Tesla is set to move forward with its operations in India. It has started to look for legal counsel based in India to support its operations in India and throughout the Asia Pacific Region.

The legal counsel will advise, manage, and review ongoing business activities in India. The counsel will advise on general legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, including consumer protection and data privacy issues. The counsel will also review lease agreements for service centers, retail locations, and Supercharger stations, motor vehicle sales contracts and warranty agreements, general commercial contracts, labor contracts, and employment law issues.

“We’re looking to hire a lawyer for our operations in India, someone who is willing to get completely immersed with every part of the business operations and to grow with the team as a legal business partner,” said Ricky Li, Deputy General Counsel at Tesla.

Recently, Tesla has initiated the process for the certification and homologation of two of its electric cars in India, Model Y and Model 3 cars, according to various media reports.

Certification and homologation is an essential requirement for all vehicles before they can be sold in the country.
