WBNUJS AND SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA- CONFERENCE ON “MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS”

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India, organized a conference on March 7, 2025, on account of International Women’s Day. The conference centered on the importance of physical and mental health in our everyday lives. This conference offered a fresh perspective on the importance of mental and physical health through the lens of the sports world.

The Learned Registrar, Mr. Raja Chakraborty, WBNUJS, presided over the session, delivered the inaugural address and facilitated the guests of honor. The first guest speaker for the event was Ms. Shimanti Chandra, a High-Performance Analyst at SAI. She spoke about the importance of maintaining physical and mental health in today’s stress-driven world and emphasized the necessity of a well-balanced diet for students. Further, the guests engaged in an interaction with the audience, addressing various concerns about the physical and mental health of women in the modern-day world. This was followed by a speech by Ms. Pranti Das, an international gymnast who has won accolades for the country through her exemplary performance. She shared her experiences as an international sportsperson, its challenges, and the various aspects of her career.

Professor Lovely Dasgupta from NUJS delivered the next address, which focused on the doping regulations prevalent in India and the world. She engaged in an interactive discussion on how these regulations do not reach most stakeholders due to the restricted availability of these regulations in the regional languages. Assistant Professor Ankita Chakravarty delivered the final address from NUJS, who spoke on the importance of maintaining mental health in college students.
