About the Journal

Oxford University Press has just launched a new type of resource: Oxford Intersections. Oxford Intersections reflects the critical role that peer-reviewed interdisciplinary research plays in helping policy- and decision-makers tackle the world’s most complex and urgent environmental, cultural, political, and social challenges.

About the Call for Papers

We invite abstracts for new interdisciplinary research articles on a range of topics for the section Academia and Education of the Racism by Context Intersection. All phases of education, including in-/non-formal education and learning (e.g. social media, community, social movements) are welcome.

Themes and Sub-themes

• Refugees in Education
• Decolonisation of curricula, pedagogy, assessment and language policies
• Student protests
• Securitisation, militarisation, state violence, Islamophobia
• Academic freedom and the inclusive production of knowledge

Submission Guidelines

• Manuscripts should be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
• If accepted, articles should run between 6-10K words and will be rigorously peer reviewed and subject to editorial approval before publication.
• To be considered, submit to racism.bycontext@oup.com a single document including:
  • An abstract of no more than 500 words
  • A brief CV for each author
• Please give the subject line as: Abstract submission for [Academia and Education]

Authorship

Oxford Intersections welcomes contributors from diverse backgrounds, spanning disciplines, institutions, geographies, and career stages. Authors may include researchers, academics, professionals, practitioners, and PhD students.

• Notification of Acceptance: 2 June 2025
• Final Manuscript Due: 1 September 2025
