Role: Development Officer

A. Qualifications

Essential:

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate Degree/Diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

B. Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years in fundraising, programme development, philanthropic initiatives, or similar roles.

  • Proven ability to engage and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, research, networking, and drafting skills.

  • Strong presentation skills, with expertise in MS PowerPoint; working knowledge of Canva is an asset.

  • Proficiency in budget management, IT tools, and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

  • Knowledge of Kannada is an added advantage.

C. Role and Responsibilities
The Development Officer will report to the Director of Communications and External Relations and will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing strategic fundraising plans.

  • Building and managing relationships with donors, grantees, alumni, the public, and internal stakeholders.

  • Creating processes for programme development and grant management across university projects.

  • Identifying donor pools, crafting outreach strategies, and securing financial support.

  • Drafting and negotiating funding proposals in coordination with academic and legal teams.

  • Managing stakeholder relationships and donor lifecycles, including contracts and reporting.

  • Preparing budgets, maintaining reports for funders, and supporting fundraising communications and campaigns.

  • Assisting with press releases in collaboration with the communications team.

D. Tenure
The appointment is on a permanent basis, subject to successful completion of a two-year probation. Retirement age is 60 years.

Selection Process

  • Part 1: Shortlisting of candidates based on applications (1:5 ratio per vacancy).

  • Part 2: Interview stage, with candidates assessed out of 50 marks by the Interview Selection Panel.

  • Additional interview rounds and independent background checks may be conducted.

  • References may be sought from individuals not listed by the applicant.
