About the Internship Programme
The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme is open to undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from recognized institutions in India and abroad. Selected interns will work directly with various verticals, divisions, or units of NITI Aayog and contribute to its ongoing projects.

Purpose
The internship is designed to offer short-term exposure to the functioning of NITI Aayog and the Government of India, providing hands-on experience in public policy and governance.

Objective
The programme aims to engage young academic minds in policy formulation by involving them in tasks such as empirical research, policy briefs, and analytical papers. It benefits both the intern and NITI Aayog by fostering learning and fresh perspectives.

Mode of Internship
On-site at NITI Aayog, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be bonafide students from recognized institutions in India or abroad and meet the following conditions:

  • Undergraduate students who have completed/appeared for 2nd-year (or 4th-semester) exams and have secured at least 85% marks in Class 12.

  • Postgraduate students who have completed/appeared for 1st-year (or 2nd-semester) exams or are enrolled in research/PhD programmes, with at least 70% marks in graduation.

  • Graduates/Postgraduates awaiting higher education admission may also apply, provided they have a minimum of 70% cumulative marks in all completed semesters.

  • The gap between declaration of final results and desired internship start date must not exceed six months (e.g., results in June would be valid for internships starting up to December).

Duration
The internship will last a minimum of six weeks and can be extended to a maximum of six months. Completion of the full duration is mandatory for receiving the internship certificate.
