Dr. Sidharth Luthra Joins NLU Delhi as K.L. Arora Chair in Criminal Law

National Law University Delhi is delighted to welcome Dr. Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate and one of India’s foremost criminal law practitioners, as the K.L. Arora Chair Professor in Criminal Law. The Chair is dedicated to fostering excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy in the field of criminal law. The Chair was set up by Hon’ble Mr. Justice D.P. Wadhwa, former judge, Supreme Court of India in 2011. Since its inception, it has served as a vital platform for advancing scholarly dialogue, legal education, and public engagement on critical issues in criminal justice. The prominent scholars like Prof. B.B. Pande, Prof. K. Chockalingam including Prof. G.S. Bajpai have held this Chair earlier.

With over three decades of distinguished experience in legal practice, academia, and public service, Dr. Luthra brings unparalleled expertise to the University. He holds a law degree from the University of Delhi and an M.Phil. in Criminology from the University of Cambridge. He has taught law at the University of Delhi (1997–1998) and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Society. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Law.

His deep commitment to the advancement of legal education, judicial reform, and institutional excellence makes his association with NLU Delhi a matter of great distinction and privilege.
