This is a petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal
Procedure.
By an order dated 12th June, 2024, a learned single judge of this
Court referred this matter to the Hon’ble the Chief Justice for
constitution of a larger bench to hear the petition as his lordship was in
disagreement with the judgment and order dated 23rd March, 2022 in
Crl.Petn.No.63 of 2021 – Shri Skhemborlang Suting and anr v. State
of Meghalaya & anr which the learned judge felt bound him.
Accordingly, by an administrative order dated 13 th June, 2024,
the then Hon’ble Chief Justice directed the petition to be heard by the
bench presided over by his lordship.
Now, it is before us.

We have perused the petition. We propose to hear out this
petition on the papers in the petition without calling for any records.
The next date of hearing of this petition will be duly notified.
We observe that trial before the concerned court has already
commenced. We do not feel it expedient to pass any interim order in
this petition at this stage, Save and except that pendency of this
proceeding and the present order may be shown to the learned judge for
him to take an appropriate decision in the matter.
