Tell us about the infrastructure of your law college

Starting with the classrooms which are very spacious and have a good quality of furniture including all the basic amenities like tables, chairs, smartboards, speakers, AC, CCTV’s etc. Then coming to library which is named “Takshila” having almost all the books required by a management student as well as a Law Student and having a great collection of other story, fiction and non fiction books and also as the college is from the Army background so CDS is one of the most known thing among all the students so here books related to that also are available and if you find any book that is not in there you can directly order it through college library without any cost. Plus we have an extra reading room for group discussions and all.

True to its name and legacy, Army Law College embodies the spirit of discipline, endurance, and physical fitness—values deeply ingrained in every student hailing from an Army background. Sports are not just extracurricular activities here; they are a way of life.

The college boasts a robust sports infrastructure that includes a full-sized 11-a-side football field, a dedicated 7-a-side football pitch, a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a well-maintained badminton court. What sets ALC apart is its emphasis on holistic development. We have not one but three well-equipped gyms on campus—one open and accessible to all students, and two separate gyms for boys and girls respectively, ensuring both inclusivity and comfort.

Moreover, in true military fashion, our day begins early with mandatory Physical Training (PT) at 5:45 a.m., instilling discipline and a strong foundation of physical and mental resilience. This unique blend of structured training, state-of-the-art facilities, and a sports-oriented atmosphere fosters not just fitness, but leadership, teamwork, and a resilient mindset among students.

The hostel facilities at Army Law College are truly a class apart, living up to the standards one would expect from an institution rooted in military tradition and discipline. Be it the spacious rooms, well-maintained washrooms, vibrant common rooms, or the serene open areas—everything is thoughtfully designed and impeccably managed, often making us pause and wonder how perfection can be so consistent.

Cleanliness is given the utmost priority. Hostel rooms and washrooms are cleaned daily by assigned housekeeping staff, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable living environment. Security is another area where ALC shines—we have 24×7 CCTV surveillance, round-the-clock security personnel, and a fully secure campus perimeter, making the hostel a safe and reassuring space for all residents.

From a utility standpoint, we enjoy uninterrupted power supply, supported by a generator backup, which ensures smooth day-to-day functioning. The mess facility is one of the highlights of our hostel life. The food served is both delicious and diverse, catering to students from all corners of India.

The menu includes a variety of cuisines—South Indian, North Eastern, North Indian, and more—along with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, thoughtfully curated based on student preferences. Regular mess committee meetings every two months allow students to voice feedback, and surprise inspections ensure standards are upheld.

A unique feature of ALC’s hostel culture is the daily roll call—a practice inherited from the Army, where all students assemble in the evening to ensure everyone is present, safe, and well. This also provides an opportunity to raise any issues or concerns directly with the hostel wardens.

Overall, hostel life at Army Law College blends comfort, community, and discipline in a way that is rarely seen in other institutions. Now rating the overall infrastructure of Army Law College i personally would rate it 4.5.

How are the academic culture and faculty in your college?

The academic environment at Army Law College, Pune strikes a commendable balance between discipline, accessibility, and intellectual engagement. While the exact number of faculty members is approximately 14–17, what truly stands out is the quality and calibre of our educators. Several professors have graduated from some of the top law schools in India, bringing with them both academic rigour and practical insight.

During the initial two years of the BBA-LLB program, the management subjects are taught by highly experienced faculty from the business and commerce domain. These professors are known for their ability to connect concepts with real-life examples in a matter of seconds, a testament to their deep industry knowledge and teaching expertise.

The faculty at ALC is also extremely approachable and student-friendly. Many of them are available on campus until 4 PM, while some even reside within the college premises, making it convenient for students to clear doubts or seek academic guidance outside regular class hours. Several professors are young and dynamic, which further bridges the communication gap, allowing students to express their concerns and academic difficulties without hesitation.

Attendance policies at ALC are taken very seriously. Students are required to maintain a minimum 75% attendance to be eligible for examinations. The system is robust and multi-layered: the concerned subject faculty verifies physical presence, students then scan a barcode using a dedicated scanner, followed by facial recognition verification. Only when all three layers are aligned is the attendance officially recorded—reflecting the institution’s commitment to discipline and accountability.

As for the class timings, they vary depending on the academic year. For instance, my current schedule as a 2nd-year BBA LLB student runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Senior students, such as those in their 5th year, typically have longer academic hours, starting from 8:00 AM and stretching till 3:00 or even 4:00 PM.

Considering all aspects—faculty qualifications, student accessibility, discipline, and infrastructure—I would rate the academic culture of Army Law College a solid 4 out of 5.

How’s the peer quality in your college? Rate it on a scale of 5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.

The peer quality at Army Law College is truly one of its strongest assets, and I would confidently rate it a 5 out of 5. What makes it so enriching is the diverse cultural and regional background of the students, who come from various parts of the country but unite under the shared identity of being part of the Army Law College family.

This diversity fosters healthy dialogue, open-mindedness, and a rich exchange of ideas, both inside and outside the classroom. One of the most remarkable aspects of the peer environment is the spirit of mentorship that flows from seniors to juniors.

Every senior here takes on a guiding role—whether it’s about academics, internships, co-curricular activities, or sports—they are always ready to extend a helping hand. This supportive ecosystem creates a collaborative and motivating atmosphere, where students uplift each other rather than compete destructively.

In essence, the student community at ALC is vibrant, encouraging, and deeply rooted in the values of camaraderie and discipline—much like the armed forces families we come from.

Tell us about the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities

Army Law College offers a vibrant and dynamic co-curricular and extra-curricular environment that contributes immensely to the holistic development of its students. The college hosts a variety of active cells, societies, and committees that continuously work toward enriching the academic and cultural life of the campus.

Some of the prominent student-led bodies include the Placement and Internship Cell (of which I am also a proud member), Moot Court Committee, ADR Cell, MUN Society, and the Legal Aid Cell. Additionally, students have the opportunity to be part of nationally recognized organizations like the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS), which instill values of leadership, discipline, and social responsibility.

Throughout the academic year, these societies organize engaging events, competitions, workshops, and outreach activities that are not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable. These platforms allow students to explore their interests, build skills, and foster team spirit.

One of the most awaited highlights of the year is our Annual Fest, a grand seven-day celebration. It kicks off with a spirited morning marathon, followed by various sports tournaments, and concludes with captivating cultural evenings that include dance and singing performances, open mic nights, and artistic showcases.

The campus comes alive with food stalls, thematic decorations, and enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty. It’s a week where the entire college comes together to celebrate creativity, diversity, and community, offering a welcome break from academic rigour.

In short, the co-curricular and extra-curricular life at ALC is energetic, inclusive, and growth-oriented, making the law school journey not only educational but also deeply fulfilling. So because of the above stated events i would rate it at 4

How are the placements in your college?

When it comes to placements and internships, Army Law College is steadily building a strong foundation for professional growth. The college has an active Internship and Placement Cell that works consistently throughout the academic year to source and disseminate opportunities for students—whether in reputed law firms, corporate legal departments, NGOs, or independent advocates.

Speaking from personal experience, in my batch of 50 students, around 25–28 students were able to secure internships through the college’s support, while the rest opted to explore and utilize personal contacts or independent searches for internships. This balance provides students with the flexibility to pursue their specific areas of interest.

The college has seen successful student placements and internships in well-established firms such as Khaitan & Co., AZB & Partners, among others. Furthermore, the recent batch of 5th-year students achieved a major milestone—all 10 students were placed in the same reputed firm with an impressive package of ₹7–8 LPA, which speaks volumes about the growing industry recognition of our college.

In terms of career preferences, a significant portion of the student body leans toward corporate law, aiming for placements in top law firms, while fewer choose to explore litigation or judiciary preparation. However, the college supports all career paths equally through mentorship, career guidance, and opportunities for exposure.

Overall, while there’s still room to expand outreach and corporate tie-ups, the college is on the right trajectory, and students are beginning to see real outcomes from its placement efforts. I would rate the placements of my college 3.5

How are the hostels in your college?

The hostels at Army Law College are truly at par with the best, offering both comfort and discipline that align with the institution’s Army background. While there isn’t a fixed number of hostel vacancies, hostel accommodation is compulsory for all students.

However, exceptions are made for local residents or students whose families live nearby. In terms of cleanliness, the hostels maintain top-tier hygiene standards. Every day, housekeeping staff and maids clean the rooms, corridors, washrooms, and common areas, ensuring a consistently neat and fresh environment.

The rooms are well-equipped and thoughtfully designed for student convenience. Depending on availability, rooms are provided on double or triple sharing basis, and each room comes furnished with: A study table and chair Bed with mattress and pillow Curtains and individual almirahs Buckets, mugs, and other basic necessities.

There’s also 24×7 power supply with a generator backup, ensuring no disruption in comfort or study. Safety and security are given utmost priority, with round-the-clock CCTV surveillance and guards posted throughout the campus and hostel premises.

Overall, the hostel facilities contribute significantly to the disciplined yet homely life at Army Law College, and I would confidently rate it a 5 out of 5.

What are the best things you like about your college?

One of the best things about Army Law College is the unique sense of belonging and discipline that comes from being part of an institution rooted in Army values. Almost every student here comes from a defense background, and that creates an atmosphere of mutual respect, unity, and purpose.

The sports infrastructure is unmatched—we have everything from a full-fledged football ground (11-side and 7-side), basketball, volleyball, badminton courts, and even three gyms (including one open gym and gender-specific ones). Morning PT sessions at 5:45 AM reflect our commitment to fitness and discipline.

The hostels are exceptionally well-maintained, offering a clean, secure, and fully-equipped living space. With daily cleaning, 24×7 security, and nutritious food catering to diverse tastes from across India, it truly feels like a second home.

Academically, the faculty is extremely approachable, qualified, and supportive, with many having graduated from prestigious institutions. Real-life examples, interactive teaching, and open communication make learning effective. The attendance policy is strict, which ensures seriousness towards academics.

We also have a vibrant co-curricular culture with various cells like the Placement Cell, ADR Cell, Moot Court Committee, MUN Society, NCC, NSS, and Legal Aid Cell. These regularly conduct events, workshops, and competitions that make college life engaging and enriching. Our annual fest is another highlight—a 7-day celebration that brings everyone together with sports, cultural nights, marathons, and food stalls.

The peer quality is another major plus—students come from all over India, bringing in a rich diversity of ideas, languages, and experiences. Seniors are helpful and act like mentors, guiding juniors in academics, sports, and internships.

Lastly, our Placement Cell has been working actively, with many students getting internships in reputed law firms like Khaitan & Co., AZB & Partners, and even securing placements with packages up to 7–8 LPA.

In short, the best thing about ALC is that it doesn’t just prepare you to be a lawyer—it shapes you to become a responsible, disciplined, and well-rounded individual.

In your opinion, what are bad things about your college?

While I genuinely appreciate my college and everything it offers, there are a few aspects that can feel challenging at times. Firstly, the college routine is often very hectic. From morning PT at 5:45 AM, followed by back-to-back classes, mandatory attendance protocols, and various cell or society activities—it can get overwhelming.

Even when you’re exhausted, you’re expected to follow the routine strictly. It sometimes feels less like a college and more like an extension of a disciplined boarding school. I understand and respect the Army values behind this structure—discipline, punctuality, order—but at times, it does take a toll on students’ mental space.

There’s very little breathing room for spontaneity or flexibility in daily life. Also, the location is slightly isolated, which means there are limited options for quick getaways or casual hangouts outside the campus. You mostly stay within the campus bubble, and unless you plan in advance, stepping out isn’t very easy.

Lastly, while our infrastructure and events are top-notch, there’s still scope for increasing exposure through more guest lectures, industry tie-ups, and international collaborations—something that could help students interested in higher studies or global legal careers.

Despite these few drawbacks, I believe they’re part of a bigger picture—Army Law College aims to build not just good students, but disciplined, responsible professionals, and that requires a bit of rigor. But yes, a little more flexibility would definitely go a long way.
