About the Conference

The Laws of Social Reproduction project, headed by Professor Prabha Kotiswaran (Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London), seeks to study women’s reproductive labour in five sectors bridging the marriage-market continuum: sex work, erotic dancing, surrogacy and egg donation, paid domestic work, and unpaid domestic and care work.

At the culmination of the project, we are hosting a film screening of ‘Working Girls’ based on our work and directed by Paromita Vohra. This will be followed by a two-day conference at India International Centre, New Delhi on 23 and 24 July 2025 from 9 am to 5 pm each day. The conference will involve presentations by team members of our work across sectors as well as comments from expert discussants across various fields. We believe this would be a very enriching experience for law students to join, in a highly relevant area of legal research.
