About the IPR Course
SimuLegum is extremely delighted to announce the 4 Weeks Certificate Course on Drafting in IPR. The course is scheduled to start from 2nd August 2025.
This IPR course aims to equip participants with foundational drafting skills across key IPR domains — patents, trademarks, copyrights, and IP-related contracts.

- Importance of context: commercial use, academic IP, startups
Session 2: Drafting NDAs and Confidentiality Clauses
- Role of NDAs in IPR protection
- Key clauses: definition of confidential information, term, exclusions
- Drafting NDAs for inventors, collaborators, vendors
Session 3: IP Assignment & Licensing Agreements
- Assignment vs license – legal implications
- Key clauses: scope, consideration, ownership, termination
- Drafting short-form agreements for creative works and inventions
Session 4: Trademark Application Drafting
- Trademark application format and drafting description of mark
- Class selection and use claims
- Basics of drafting opposition notices and replies
Session 5: Copyright Filing & License Drafting
- Essentials of copyright registration (Form XIV, Statement of Particulars)
- Drafting copyright license for content, music, and software
- Moral rights and licensing limitations
Session 6: Patent Specification Drafting (Provisional)
- Provisional vs complete specification
- Structure: title, field, background, description
- Drafting a simple provisional spec for a technical idea
Session 7: Drafting IP Clauses in Contracts
- IP clauses in employment, consulting, SaaS and publishing agreements
- Drafting ownership, indemnity, and post-termination use clauses
- Boilerplate clauses impacting IP rights
Session 8: Drafting Cease & Desist Notices and Enforcement Documents
- Structure and tone of enforcement notices
- Key elements: identification, infringement claim, legal demand
- Drafting a cease-and-desist letter for trademark or copyright infringement
