About the Chambers
The Chambers of Shaurya Sahay, Advocate-on-Record (Supreme Court of India) and Standing Counsel for the State of Uttar Pradesh, is inviting applications for the position of Litigation Associate. Our practice is rooted in high-stakes government litigation before the Supreme Court, representing various state governments and public sector undertakings. This role offers a unique opportunity for young legal professionals to gain direct exposure to Supreme Court practice, particularly in matters involving constitutional, criminal, and civil law. In addition to government litigation, the practice occasionally includes arbitration and commercial disputes.

Eligibility

  • Law graduates from the 2024 or 2025 batch, or candidates with up to 1 year of post-qualification experience.

  • Freshers with a robust internship background in litigation are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Strong research, drafting, and analytical abilities are essential.

  • Applicants must demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills for regular liaison with government departments.

  • Candidates should be capable of working under pressure and managing a high volume of litigation matters.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in matters before the Supreme Court, particularly on behalf of government clients.

  • Liaising regularly with government departments for legal opinions, instructions, and case updates.

  • Managing a wide caseload, including significant criminal matters and complex civil disputes.

  • Working on legal issues spanning land acquisition, elections, service law, stamp and registration, and constitutional questions.

  • Drafting petitions, counter affidavits, written submissions, legal opinions, and conducting thorough legal research.

  • Handling essential clerical and administrative responsibilities as part of comprehensive legal support services.

Terms of Engagement
The position includes a paid probation period of three months. In exceptional cases, this period may be extended based on performance. Confirmation of the role is contingent on successful completion of the probation.
