About the Competition

The Legal Drafting Competition 2025 organized by Oriental College of Law in collaboration with Canonsphere, is a prestigious event designed to provide law students with an opportunity to enhance their legal drafting skills.

This virtual competition focuses on drafting bail application, where participants will be given a real-world legal a and will be required to draft a comprehensive bail application based on the given facts and applicable laws. This will not only test their knowledge of substantive and procedural laws but also their ability to construct wellstructured and persuasive legal documents.

Theme

The theme focuses on the complex and sensitive area of matrimonial disputes, emphasizing the legal challenges faced by women within the institution of marriage. Participants will engage with a fictionary fact scenario involving issues such as divorce, domestic violence, child custody, maintenance.

The competition aims to promote legal awareness and advocacy for women’s rights, while testing the participants’ ability to draft legal pleadings that are legally sound, persuasive, and empathetic. The use of evidentiary materials will allow students to apply procedural and substantive laws in a practical context; mirroring real-life family court litigation.

Through this theme, participants will explore the intersection of personal laws, criminal remedies, and civil protections, encouraging a multidimensional understanding of family law practice in India.

Eligibility

• Students pursuing any undergraduate degree (BA LL.B/ B.Com LL.B/ BBA LL.B/ B.Sc LL.B/ BA/ LL.B/ B.Com/ BBA/ B. Tech etc.) from a recognized university can participate in the LEGAL DRAFTING COMPETITION, 2025.
• Participants shall participate individually or form a team of two.
• Both institutional and cross-institutional teams are allowed.

Rules & Regulations

• Each Participant/ Team must submit ONLY ONE Submission.
• The Submission shall be drafted on the basis of the Problem.
• The Submission shall be drafted in English language only.
• Any Draft of submission with any name reference or disclosing the details of the participants in any manner will be disqualified.
• The Submission should not exceed the plagiarism limit of 20%

• Winner: ₹4000/- + Trophy
  Runner up: ₹2500/- + Trophy
  2nd Runner up: ₹1000/- + Trophy
• All participants will be given the Certificate of participation.
• 20% discount on Canonsphere’s Contract Drafting Course.
