The Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities is an entity established for working towards the promotion of students (or Alumni) connected with all the National Law Universities of the Nation.

It helps students and aspiring fresh graduates by supporting them financially and mentoring them to hone their professional abilities.

About the Opportunity

The CAN Foundation calls upon law students of all universities to join its team as student representatives.

The CAN Foundation takes pride in its Student Representatives. These students are some of the brightest and the most hardest-working students from Law Universities across the country.

They are expected to be diligent and pay great attention to detail, especially on tasks that are required to be completed with urgency. We are always on the lookout for new faces to join the Foundation and contribute to our day-to-day functioning.

Eligibility

The Candidate must be in the 3rd Year or above, pursuing an Undergraduate Degree at any recognised Law School in the country.

Student Representatives who work diligently for the Foundation and significantly contribute to the projects undertaken will be rewarded with Internship Opportunities under the Offices of Hon’ble Judges, Law Firms and Chambers of Esteemed Advocates.

Roles & Responsibilities

The student representative shall be expected to work for a minimum of 7 hours per week. However, this would substantially increase when the Foundation’s initiatives, such as Eklavya and Dhananjay, are ongoing.

Work is generally assigned via call or WhatsApp text. So, the representative must and should promptly avail themselves via the aforementioned modes. There is no carry-forward rule for this working hours schedule for the subsequent week.

• Editorial Work includes drafting various documents related to the organization such as emails to Hon’ble judges, senior advocates and donors of the Foundation. It also includes press releases for media outreach and content for the social media handles. These documents are expected to be drafted with great proficiency and must reflect the high standards followed at the Foundation. For any academic undertaking of the CAN Foundation, the member may be given research queries to work on. These include issues of national importance and are expected to be drafted with proper references and authorities. These documents must be of standards that can be placed before Hon’ble Judges and Senior Advocates for their perusal. Having served as editors of journals of repute is a welcome addition, if the student representative is applying for this role.
• Database Management the candidates discharging this function shall be responsible for maintaining and updating the database after the Webinars by duly keeping a track of the promotions and the queries received from various sources. In addition, they shall be keeping track of the Google Forms and their Responses to any activities undertaken by the CAN Foundation. The representative would be expected to extract data from the responses to webinars and update the existing databases of the Foundation. This requires a good knowledge of using Microsoft Excel/Google Spreadsheets.
• Social Media Outreach all the Foundation’s initiatives shall be updated in Social Media Handles by the Social Media Outreach team. The candidate is expected to have sufficient knowledge about various features of social media handles and is welcome to give other suggestions for increasing our outreach through our social media handles.
• Fundraising the candidates would be expected to reach out to lawyers across the country for raising funds for initiatives of the Foundation such as Project Eklavya & Project Dhananjay. They would be expected to be diligent, and convincing and have the ability to think on their feet to ensure that adequate funds are raised for the Foundation. Per day, the student representative would be expected to reach out to 40-50 people for raising funds for the Foundation’s initiatives. The student representative is required to be persuasive without crossing the limits of pestering potential donors. It requires a fine balance between how to go ahead. The student representative must possess impressive soft skills to be able to undertake this task.
