Thiruvananthapuram, August 22, 2025 – A Cyber breach at Thiruvananthapuram’s Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple has triggered a formal digital forensic investigation. Temple staff discovered that the main server had been accessed late at night, and some operational data had been viewed; as a result, the system was rendered inaccessible.
The police registered the case under the IT Act and handed over the login credentials and logs to the state Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Investigators suspect an insider because the intrusion appears to have used legitimate login paths rather than obvious external hacking tools. The FSL will examine users’ sessions, recover deleted logs, trace unusual file access, and check for data exfiltration to determine how the breach occurred and who is responsible.
Temple authorities have restricted access and initiated a security review while awaiting the lab’s initial findings, which, according to policy, will guide next steps, including possible staff questions or criminal charges. The case highlights the growing risks of insider threats and the vital role of cyber forensics.
