Laureen E. Seeger, American Express‘s Chief Legal Officer, received $11 million in 2024, an increase from 2023 but less than 2022. Over $5 million of this compensation was a bonus, with $4.1 million in stock awards, according to the Proxy Statement filed before the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 14.
She has received a compensation of around $ 15 Million in 2022. The difference with the last year’s compensation was due to the option
awards of $ 4.4 Million in 2022.
The proxy statement filed states that she has advised the Company across a range of legal, reputational and regulatory matters, including oversight of the Company’s global litigation strategy. Further highlighting, “Successfully enhanced and progressed compliance, conduct and governance excellence by facilitating collaboration and responding effectively to regulatory requests,” the proxy statement added.
She has continued to deliver guidance and leadership to senior Management and the Board on the legal and governance ramifications of
strategic matters including matters of global security.
As a member of the Executive Committee, she oversees the Legal, Government Affairs, and Corporate Secretarial functions for American Express and its subsidiaries. She is also a member of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.
In 2024, she also had responsibility for Global Security. Before American Express, she also served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of McKesson Corporation. Preceding her appointment in March 2006, she was Vice President and General Counsel of McKesson Provider Technologies (MPT), McKesson’s health care information technology solutions business.
Before joining McKesson, she was Partner-In-Charge of the Technology Litigation Section at the law firm Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP.
