Mumbai-based law firm Anagram Partners has advised sports-tech company Dream Sports on its INR 427 crore investment in cricket media platform Cricbuzz and North American cricket broadcaster Willow TV, both owned by Times Internet, which was represented by Trilegal.
Dream Sports will pick up a strategic minority interest in Cricbuzz and Willow TV, which collectively have 185 million monthly users across more than 150 countries.
This strategic minority investment pairs India’s largest sports-tech company with the most visited cricket media and broadcast ecosystem to unlock next-gen engagement, commerce, and AI-powered interactivity.
This investment is the latest in a series of strategic moves made by Dream 11 owner, Dream Sports, which is valued at more than $8 billion.
The Anagram team was led by partners Shuva Mandal, Faraz Khan, and Rajesh Simhan (tax). They were supported by Rachana Rautray, Afaan Arshad, Yavipriya Gupta and Kartik Solanki.
The Trilegal deal team was led by partner Nikhil Sachdeva, and included counsel Mayank Malhotra, senior associate Sindhujaa Nayak, and associate Sidharth Pattnaik. Partners Kirti Balasubramanian (IP), Apeksha Mattoo (employment), Jyotsna Jayaram (TMT), and Rudresh Singh (antitrust) also assisted on the deal.
