About the Fellowship:
The Witteveen Memorial Fellowship in Law and Humanities is designed to advance research and teaching on law and its intersections with rhetoric, narrative, image, performance, sound, and culture. The fellowship commemorates Professor Willem Witteveen (1952–2014), a distinguished Professor of Jurisprudence at Tilburg Law School and Dutch Senator, whose work bridged legal scholarship with rhetoric, literary analysis, political philosophy, and cultural history. The fellowship provides a one-month residency at Tilburg Law School (between February–May 2026), offering a shared workspace, library access, and coverage of travel and accommodation expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Open to junior scholars (PhD or postdoctoral level)
  • Applicants must demonstrate a clear research focus in law and humanities

Roles and Benefits:

  • Conduct and share research during the residency at Tilburg Law School
  • Engage with the academic community at TLS in the field of law and humanities
  • Benefit from institutional support including workspace, library access, and funded travel/accommodation

  • Curriculum Vitae including publications list
  • Writing sample (article or chapter)
  • Short research statement (approx. one page) linking your work to law and humanities
