Bharat Petroleum faces ₹ 4.7 cr tax demand over Input Tax Credit misuse, ET LegalWorld

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has received an Order from the Additional Commissioner, Kolkata South (CBIC) demanding ₹ 4.7 crore which includes a basic demand of ₹ 2,39,88,028 and a penalty of ₹ 2,39,88,028/- for wrongly availing Input Tax Credit, according to the Company’s exchange filing.

The Company is likely to challenge the order before an appropriate authority.”BPCL will file an appeal by making a predeposit of 10% of the basic amount demanded,” Bharat Petroleum said in the exchange filing.

The order dated January 21, was received on January 28, 2025.

The Company is set to deposit ₹ 23.98 lacs before April 20, 2025.

The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations & Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
