Britannia Industries faces ₹4.32 cr tax demand, ET LegalWorld

Britannia Industries Limited has received an Order from the Office of the Additional Commissioner, Central Tax, Delhi (North) demanding ₹ 4,32,94,026/-, according to the exchange filing.

The order passed under section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, related to the Input Tax Credit and Tax rate used.

The tax, interest & penalty quantified in the Order amounts to ₹ 2,07,97,710/-, ₹ 1,98,970/- & ₹ 2,22,97,346/- respectively, totalling to a demand of ₹ 4,32,94,026/-.

The Company is likely to challenge the demand order before an appellate authority. “The Order is appealable, and the Company shall take necessary actions including exercising the legal remedies available under the GST law,” Britannia Industries said in an exchange filing.

The Company received the demand order on January 22, 2025.
