The High Court of Delhi has disposed of the Music video producer Amandeep Singh Batra‘s plea to seek quashing of a notice being issued to him by Delhi Police in an allegedly false and frivolous complainant lodged against him by Prateek Chaudhary – a Delhi-based night club owner after the Delhi police submitted to the Court that the complaint had been closed on February 09, 2025.
“Nothing more survives in the present Petition, which is hereby dismissed,” said the High Court while dismissing the petition.
Amandeep Batra brought to the attention of the Court that the notices were being issued to him despite there being no FIR against him. The issue before the court was regarding a police officer’s power under Section 179 BNSS to call a person to the police station during the inquiry and when such a person does not reside within the jurisdiction of the concerned police station.
The Counsels for Amandeep Batra highlighted how Chaudhary has been harassing Batra due to this personal vendetta with him and that the notices – which were issued over 6 months after the complaint was lodged another endeavour to harass Batra.
Submissions were also made to show that despite replying to the notices and informing the police officials regarding the illegal nature of these notices, Batra was compelled to visit the police station on February 7, 2025, and made to sign back-dated papers.
The matter also relates to alleged extortion threats from Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, which he believes are being made at the instance of Prateek Chaudhary.
He was granted protection by the Delhi High Court in December 2024.
Amandeep Singh Batra was represented by Senior Advocate Abhimanyu Bhandari and Advocates Arjun Syal and Mehaak Jaggi.
