“Some people think its ok to benefit from animals, while others think they should not be exploited”
Many people believe that animals are supposed to be treated in the same way as humans, and should have comparable rights. While other people believe that it is vital to utilize them as we want for purposes such as food, flesh, and research work. In this essay, I will elaborate both the viewpoints along with my opinion. We all know the term “Animal Rights” for people started urging for the rights of the innocent animals in the mid-1800s. They started thinking about animal welfare. After a long journey, besides bills, movements, protests, we are having a better world, where animals and humans are mostly treated the same. Animal rights are the concept in which some, or all animals are entitled to the possession of their own existence and that their most basic interests. Like, those people want to keep away from suffering ought to be afforded the equal consideration as comparable pastimes of human beings.
It was a long journey to make the world like we know now. The established movement for animal protection started in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Bills against animal cruelty were passed in England and several American states. In the mid-1800s the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals formed, and anti-vivisection (animal research) movements appeared.
In the UK, the first legislation ‘Martin’s Act’ for the protection of animals which was mainly cattle and horses was passed in 1822. Two years later, in 1824, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was established. The society focused especially on enforcement of the law, with prosecutions where appropriate. In 1835, the Act was amended to protect domestic animals, such as dogs and cats, against cruelty.
People who believe in animal rights think that they should not be treated cruelly. They also say that people can’t use animals in experiments or for sport. Still, the animal rights activists are striving to be the animal’s identity, to be their voice.
As to the abuse of creatures, many understand that it is considered for a few reasons. Firstly, they believe that humans are the most essential creatures on earth, and their survival should be ensured on a priority. If it requires sacrificing other creatures for discovering solutions for infections or for food, humans have the right to do so. Moreover, it is accepted by some that animals don’t feel torment, pain, or loss as humans do, hence the killing of animals for human needs is justified and ethically worthy.
There are many people who have studied animal behaviors closely and have an opposing idea. As per many such people, animals should have their own rights, and must not be abused or sacrificed for human requirements. It has been proven through numerous laboratory experiments that animals are capable of feelings and emotions, and feel pain as much as humans do. In addition, a considerable measure of creature research is accomplished for beauty care products and not to discover remedies for ailments which is unnecessary. Finally, it has also been proven that humans can get all the nutrients and vitamins that they need from green vegetables and fruit. Therefore, again, having to kill animals for food is not an adequate argument.
There is no doubt that, animals are very important part of our ecosystem. Few people believe that it is natural to use animals for one’s own benefit, while others argue that it’s a form of abuse. In this essay, I will discuss points on both sides of the argument and provide my support to the former view.
From times immemorial, human beings have been depending on animals. There is no doubt that we derive great benefit from animal products like milk, medicines, nutritious food. Not only in terms products, but also animals are widely used for transportation and agriculture. I think it is impossible to imagine our lives without the need to depend on animals. For instance, there is no true supplement for animal milk in terms of nutritional value and same goes for drugs that use animal products. As mentioned earlier, they form an important part of our ecosystem, and to me our ecosystems are designed in a way living beings benefit from one another and co-exist in harmony. Now that we have looked into why it is impossible for us to imagine life without benefiting from animals, let’s now switch to the other side of our argument.
In contrast, there are few people who are of the opinion that humans should refrain from exploiting animals. In my view, that’s true to an extent, humans should not hunt or kill animals for pleasure; also they should not mistreat animals by creating a hostile living environment for them. These actions, in long term will harm mankind, because these animals that are being killed for pleasure become extinct which will in turn result in unbalanced ecosystem that’s dangerous. It is important for humans to note that they cannot exist without deriving benefits from animals, and it is there responsibility to ensure animal welfare.
In conclusion, it is evident that humans cannot exist without deriving benefits from animals therefore I support the concept of depending on animals for our benefit, but as discussed earlier this needs to be carried out without subjecting animals to exploitation.
In my opinion, the arguments against animal rights do not stand up to scrutiny. To sum up, albeit a few people contend murdering animals for research and sustenance is moral, I would say that there is adequate proof to show the contrary, and steps must be taken to improve the privileges of creatures.
