⚖️ Status of Draft Rule Publication:

Code Central Government States/UTs
All 4 Labour Codes Draft rules pre-published 32 States/UTs have pre-published draft rules
Exceptions West Bengal & Lakshadweep – no draft rules published Delhi – Only under Code on Wages, 2019
Tamil Nadu – All except Social Security Code, 2020

🛡️ Key Focus of the Labour Codes:

The Labour Codes aim to streamline, consolidate and strengthen various labour laws. The central vision is to:

  1. Ensure statutory minimum wages across all sectors.

  2. Guarantee timely payment of wages.

  3. Expand social security coverage to a broader range of workers.

  4. Enhance occupational safety, health, and working conditions.


🧾 Highlights from the Code on Social Security, 2020:

Key Provisions:

  • Definitions introduced for gig and platform workers to design specific welfare schemes.

  • Social Security Fund to be set up for:

  • Government can formulate schemes using this fund, extending benefits like insurance, pension, maternity, etc.
