First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
The first day began with an introduction to the associates. The office is well-equipped, although there is a bit of a space crunch, particularly for interns. Despite that, the environment felt professional and welcoming.
Main Tasks
I was engaged in extensive legal analysis across multiple domains, including arbitration, civil and commercial litigation, criminal justice, constitutional law, insolvency regimes, intellectual property, and tax-related matters.
I contributed to the preparation and drafting of various legal documents such as argument notes, bail applications, legal opinions, lists of dates, written submissions, and writ petitions. These tasks were both intellectually demanding and fulfilling, often requiring tight turnarounds and precision.
One of the highlights of the internship was attending hearings before the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court, and various District Courts. This firsthand exposure to courtroom dynamics greatly enriched my understanding of practical advocacy.
The work was deeply engaging and always tied closely to real disputes, ensuring that even intern contributions had tangible impact.
Work Environment
The work environment at Foresight Law Offices strikes a fine balance between friendliness and professionalism. The associates are approachable, supportive, and take the time to ensure interns clearly understand the tasks assigned.
Interns are treated as valuable contributors to ongoing cases. Work is carefully reviewed, and feedback is constructive. There’s a genuine effort to help interns grow by encouraging them to ask questions and seek clarity when needed. Collaboration is smooth, and you feel like a part of the team, not just an observer.
The office fosters an atmosphere where learning is continuous, and mentorship is available at every level.
Good Things about the Internship
One of the most rewarding aspects was that intern contributions were meaningful and tied directly to case strategy. Tasks like drafting argument notes or preparing legal opinions were not hypothetical exercises—they were used by counsel in court.
It was an incredibly fulfilling experience to see a researched judgment cited in court and the court granting relief based on it. That sense of impact and relevance is rare in internships.
To quote The West Wing for a cinematic analogy: like Charlie says, “It doesn’t go away,” referring to the enduring impact of even small contributions—something I truly felt during this internship.
Interns are challenged, supported, and recognized, which creates a motivating and empowering work experience.
Bad Things about the Internship
There were no significant negatives during the internship. However, the office space for interns can be a bit distracting due to the regular hustle and bustle. Those who prefer quiet working environments might find this slightly challenging at times.
Monthly Stipend
Assessment internships are compensated with a fair stipend. Regular internships generally do not carry any monetary compensation.
Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office
Accommodation was self-arranged. I stayed at Bajaj PG (+91 98117 85007), located conveniently near the office. It offered reasonably priced lodging and good-quality food, which made daily commuting manageable.
Anything else you want to share?
This internship is a fantastic learning opportunity, especially for those looking to work under tight deadlines and real-world pressure.
When I needed a breather, Sukoon Park, just a short walk from the office, was the perfect spot to recharge. A nearby tea stall also served as a common hangout for interns and associates who wanted to relax or take a smoke break.
The overall experience was intensive, insightful, and thoroughly rewarding.
