First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
On the first day of my internship, I was given a briefing about the working culture of the organization by my internship coordinator, Priyanka Ma’am. She also introduced me to other senior associates at the firm.
However, I met our heads, Mr. Mahendra Gargieya sir and Devang sir, the following day. I was informed about the specifics of working through the remote desktop connection and was asked to read the SOP to understand what work I was expected to do and how to go about it.
Main Tasks
The overall internship experience involved a diverse range of tasks that exposed me to the vast field of taxation and the Income Tax Act. The primary work was research-based, as we assisted our seniors by researching various topics and case laws using platforms such as Taxmann, Current Tax Online, and the Income Tax India website.
In addition to research, we were frequently assigned sound files that included minute drafting-related tasks. These helped us understand how different drafts and pleadings are prepared for various cases. One of the highlights for me was working on the Budget Analysis 2023 at the firm.
Each of us was assigned specific sections of the Finance Bill 2023 to analyze, focusing on the amendments and their impact on taxation laws. While preparing for the Udaipur Tax Conference, Mahendra sir also assigned us research tasks on topics such as the taxation of charitable trusts and penalties on cash transactions, which proved to be a particularly engaging and insightful experience.
Other miscellaneous tasks included preparing paper book indexes for cases, reading key sections of the Act, reviewing case files, and more. We also had occasional sessions with Devang sir, during which he provided a concise overview of the taxation regime, helping us develop a foundational understanding of the field.
Work Environment
The best part of this internship was the familiar and welcoming environment provided to me as an intern. All the associates and other employees at the organization were supportive, interactive, and helpful. I found myself actively involved in every task at the firm throughout my tenure.
The seniors guided us at every stage and ensured there was no room for ambiguity, making it easier for us to adapt to the working culture.
Good Things about the Internship
I found the working environment here to be very positive. The associates are incredibly friendly and help not only with legal matters but also offer valuable advice on various aspects of life and career. The best part about this internship is that the seniors are approachable and supportive.
In particular, Devang Gargieya Sir stands out; he guides you throughout the internship and provides a deep understanding of the law.
Bad Things about the Internship
I didn’t find anything negative here; everything, from the staff to the work, was genuinely good. There’s a lot to learn if you’re willing to work hard. The co-interns were great as well; they were supportive and helpful throughout the internship.
Monthly Stipend
