The petitioners, accused Nos. 3 and 4, have been charge-
sheeted for offences punishable under Sections 4, 6, 7, 8, and
12(2) of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of
Cattle Ordinance, 2020, read with Sections 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51,
52, 53, 54, 56, 96, and 98 of the Transportation of Animals Act,
1978, and Sections 181(3) and 177 of the Indian Motor Vehicles
NC: 2025:KHC:9247
Act, 1988, along with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860
(IPC). The petitioners have approached this Court seeking relief.
2. The prosecution alleges that on 03.09.2022, the
complainant, upon receiving credible information about illegal cattle
transportation, along with his staff, conducted a raid. Upon
reaching the spot, they found that cattle were tied in a shed
belonging to accused No.1. Three cattle had already died, and
three others were recovered from a lorry owned by accused No.2.
