Tell us about the infrastructure of your law college
GLCT boasts a 150-year heritage. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and CCTV cameras and can be rated 3 out of 5. The GLCT library houses one of the largest collections in the state and also merits a rating of 3, as there is room for improvement—such as adding new edition books, increasing reading space, installing air conditioning and water filters, and providing computers.
There is a sports room with equipment; however, due to space constraints, the college lacks a proper playground, except for a volleyball court. This too is rated 3. Girls’ hostel facilities are available within the campus and are rated 2.5, primarily due to limited space and several areas that need improvement.
The location of the college, however, deserves a 5-star rating for its excellent accessibility within the city.
How are the academic culture and faculty in your college?
We have around 20 well-qualified faculty members, each holding a doctorate degree and bringing years of experience to the table. I would rate this a 5 out of 5.
Attendance and academics are strictly monitored to a large extent, although some faculty members do allow flexibility for valid reasons—another 5-star aspect.
Regular class timings are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
How’s the peer quality in your college? Rate it on a scale of 5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest.
The students enrolled at GLCT are selected solely based on their ranks in the KLEE exam, with those joining the college being among the top-ranked candidates in the state. Most students are exceptionally brilliant, vibrant, and possess multifaceted skills. It is truly a privilege to be among the best minds in the state—definitely a 5-star aspect.
Tell us about the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
Here are a number of active clubs at GLCT, catering to diverse student interests. These include:
- Placement Cell – Rated 4/5
- Moot Club – Rated 3/5
- Literary Club – Rated 3/5
- Dance Club – Rated 4/5
- Acting Club – Rated 4/5
- Music Club – Rated 3/5
- Malayalam Club – Rated 3/5
- Sports Club – Rated 3/5
These clubs offer students ample opportunities to explore their passions and develop new skills outside the classroom.
How are the placements in your college?
The Placement Cell at GLCT, led by Dr. Safi Mohan, is doing a commendable job. Each year, several students secure placements in reputed multinational companies. The cell also facilitates internships at top firms and institutions, which greatly helps students navigate real-world challenges with confidence. This aspect deserves a solid 4-star rating.
How are the hostels in your college?
The hostel facilities at GLCT are fairly basic and may not be considered among the best. Due to space constraints, not all students can be accommodated. The building is quite old and lacks modern amenities, offering only the essentials—a room with a bed and table, and shared common toilets. This aspect would be rated a 3 out of 5.
What are the best things you like about your college?
The best thing about the college is its ambience. Nestled in the heart of the city amidst lush greenery, the campus exudes an energetic and refreshing aura. Being part of an institution with a 150-year-old legacy brings a deep sense of pride and joy to every student.
In your opinion, what are bad things about your college?
GLCT is a relatively small campus with limited scope for future expansion. Additionally, delays in the implementation of approved projects—often due to bureaucratic processes associated with being a government institution—further add to the challenges faced by the college.
How would you rate your college overall on a scale of 10?
7/10
