Tell us about the infrastructure of your law college
I will give an overall 4/5 for the campus infrastructure. The classrooms and library are excellent, well-maintained, spacious, and conducive to learning, so they definitely deserve a 5.
The hostel facilities are decent and comfortable, hence a 4. However, the basketball and badminton courts are in poor condition and barely usable, which is disappointing. I’d rate them 1 each.
The cricket and football grounds are fairly well-maintained and offer decent space for matches and practice sessions.
Rated: 4/5
How is the academic culture and faculty in your college?
In Birla School of Law, there are 11 faculty members, and all of them are extremely cooperative and understanding. They are approachable and always willing to help students.
However, the 75% attendance rule is strictly enforced, so students need to be careful with that.
Rated: 4/5
How’s the peer quality in your college?
Academically, my peers are very competitive, which keeps the environment vibrant, but they are also collaborative, which makes working in teams enjoyable.
The diverse mix of students from different backgrounds and regions has helped me broaden my perspective, improve my communication skills, and learn how to work effectively in multidisciplinary groups.
Rated: 3/5
Tell us about the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
BGU Law School has a Legal Aid Society and a Pro Bono Club that organize various intra- and inter-level competitions. Additionally, other departments have clubs like the Eco and Green Club, Electoral Literacy Club, Communication Club, Mess Conduit Club, and Library Conduits.
NSS is also active, promoting student development, empathy, and social awareness. However, participation levels and impact could be better.
Rated: 2/5
How are the placements in your college?
Unfortunately, there is very limited scope for internships and placements for law students at BGU. Faculty members usually only provide letters of recommendation. Structured support or outreach from the placement cell is missing, which is a major drawback.
Rated: 3/5
How are the hostels in your college?
BGU offers both 2-seater and 3-seater hostel accommodations. Facilities include washing machines, laundry services, and ovens. Rooms and washrooms are mostly clean, although the flush often malfunctions, which can be a hassle. Still, the living conditions are fairly comfortable.
Rated: 3/5
What are the best things you like about your college?
I really like the faculty members here; they are understanding, approachable, and genuinely supportive of students.
For day scholars, the lunch meals cost ₹75, which is quite reasonable given the quality. The mess is generally clean, and the campus overall is well-maintained.
Rated: 4/5
In your opinion, what are bad things about your college?
The university provides no structured internships or placement opportunities for law students.
During events or competitions, the buses don’t wait for day scholars, even those participating, which is unfair. There’s no provision for alternative transport either. Some bus drivers and conductors are uncooperative, and healthcare services are minimal.
The MBA and Commerce block washrooms often remain dirty, and the overall building infrastructure needs improvement. The university should also focus more on providing practical learning experiences to students, as the current approach is too theory-heavy.
Rated: 2/5
How would you rate your college overall on a scale of 10?
6/10
