Milbank LLP’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer Mikeisha Anderson Jones, Esq. discusses how law firms can maintain momentum in their commitment to DEI by taking a page from corporate America in her article titled “What Corporations Can Teach Law Firms About DEI,” published in Bloomberg Law.
Ms. Anderson Jones believes DEI is inextricably linked to everyone’s success because it helps organizations benefit from the rich tapestry of perspectives offered by people who think differently and have different life experiences. “Qualitative and quantitative data show that diverse and inclusive organizations deliver better results,” she notes.
“Corporations do not have all the answers regarding DEI,” Ms. Anderson Jones writes. “But their history of grappling with challenges is instructive. A more inclusive definition of leadership, consistent coalescing around shared values, and having clear metrics for measuring success can help law firms progress on their DEI journey.”
