Karnataka Institute for Law and Parliamentary Reform (KILPAR) is an autonomous institution under the Government of Karnataka’s Law Department. It promotes legal research, law reform, and legislative excellence. KILPAR undertakes impactful projects in legal literacy, legislative drafting, and training for legislators, advocates, and judicial officers, aiming to foster a transparent, informed, and just legal environment.
About the Committee
The Centre for Legal Advocacy (CLA) at IFIM Law School is a student-led body established in 2023. It focuses on experiential learning through Crime Scene Investigations, Trial Advocacy Competitions, and Courtroom Training Sessions. CLA seeks to bridge the gap between legal theory and practice and aims to cultivate confident and capable legal advocates.
About the Competition
“Mukadama” – The Pursuit of Justice is IFIM-KILPAR’s Trial Advocacy Competition. It aims to simulate real courtroom settings to train students in litigation and advocacy, including trial preparation, courtroom etiquette, presentation, argumentation, and witness examination skills. Featuring a multi-stage format, the competition challenges participants across India with procedural and oral rounds, mirroring real legal proceedings.
Eligibility
Any student currently enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year law degree program from a recognized university or college in India is eligible to participate. Only One Team per College is allowed.
Venue for the Competition
The oral rounds of “Mukadama” shall be held at IFIM Law School, Electronic City, Bangalore, Karnataka, India from 10th October 2025 – 12th October 2025.
How to Register?
Interested candidates can register online via the link given at the end of the post.
- All registered teams must take the Online Qualifying Test (40 MCQs, 45 minutes).
- The top 24 teams qualify for Oral Rounds based on scores.
Registration Fee
No registration fee. Participation in “Mukadama” is entirely free of cost.
Theme of the Competition
White Collar Crimes: The case problem revolves around corporate financial fraud involving tax evasion, money laundering, bribery, digital evidence tampering, and forgery. The matter engages multiple legal provisions under financial, criminal, anti-corruption, and anti-money laundering laws.
