Week 2: Law of Torts and Environment-Related Legislations

Lecture 3: Environment (Protection) Act, 1986

  • Premises, objectives, and scope of the Act.
  • Definitions and powers of the Central Government.
  • Court powers, prevention of environmental pollution, and penalties.

Lecture 4: Factories (Amendment) Act, 1987 and Public Liability Insurance Act, 1991

  • Key provisions from these Acts.
  • Civil liability and compensation.

Week 3: Waste Management and Pollution Control

Lecture 5: Role of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)

  • Functions and responsibilities of CPCB.
