About the KSLW
Kanoria School of Law for Women (previously known as Rajasthan School of Law for Women) was established in 2018 in the Kanoria College campus, Jaipur. The college is affiliated with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University, Jaipur, and approved by the Bar Council of India.
About RSHRC
The Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission is one of the leading state commissions in the country. In a short span it has achieved many milestones in its mission for the protection and promotion of human rights. The main mandate of the State Commission is to function as a watchdog for human rights in the state.
About the Competition
Kanoria School of Law for Women is organizing “Parley 5.0: Debate Competition” on 13-14 June 2025. The competition’s purpose is to encourage students to think critically about diverse social and legal issues and to provide experience that will help them develop life-changing cognitive and presentational abilities.
The debaters will also gain unique educational advantages from this debate competition as they hone unattainable talents in any other environment. Its goal is to make law graduates more aware of the effectiveness of using persuasive facts and well-reasoned arguments. It allows them to explain their position by employing verbal elegance. It gives one a sense of composure and assurance. It teaches students how to conduct effective research, arrange information, and deliver it in an engaging way.
Eligibility
- Members of the team must be valid undergraduate students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law program. (Note—Bachelor of Law means a 3-year or 5-year integrated course in law recognized by the Bar Council of India.).
- The team shall comprise two participants.
- Students from the same college/university can participate as a team.
- Students from different colleges/universities can participate as a team.
- A maximum of 3 teams per institute/college/university are allowed to participate. (Selection on a first-come, first-served basis).
Topics
- Preliminary (Round 1) – Efficacy of Cyber Laws in India.
- Semi-Final (Round 2)—Courts should uphold constitutional morality over public sentiments.
- Final (Round 3)—Relevance of Human Rights Institutions in contemporary India.
Structure
The Competition shall consist of three online rounds
- The Preliminary Round;
- The Semi-Finals Round; and
- The Final Round
- Preliminary Round:
- Competition will be conducted online through virtual rooms. The number of rooms depends on the number of entries received by the college for the competition.
- A proportionally equal number of participants will qualify for the semi-final round from each virtual room.
- Each team shall consist of two speakers, one speaking for the motion and one against the motion, which will be decided by the participants themselves.
- Each candidate will be allotted 3+1 minutes in the preliminary round.
- There would be no rebuttal in this round.
- No questions will be asked in this round.
- Semi-Final Round:
- Selection for the semi-final round will be on an individual basis. It is not necessary that the entire team qualify for this round. Only 16 participants will be selected.
- The motion will be given by the organizers to the participants after the declaration of the result of the preliminary round.
- Each candidate will be allowed 3+1 minutes.
- The motion would be decided by a draw of lots.
- There would be no rebuttal in this round.
- Questions may be asked by the judges in this round.
Note: Be prepared for both the motions in advance
- Final Round:
- The top 6 participants will qualify for the final round.
- The motion would be given by the organizers after the declaration of results of the semifinal round.
- Each candidate will be allowed 5+1 minutes.
- The motion would be decided by a draw of lots.
- There would be no rebuttal in this round.
- Questions will be asked by the judges in this round.
Note: Be prepared for both the motions in advance.
Evaluation Criteria
The basis for evaluation of debate will be on the following parameters:
- Organization and Clarity
- Presentation Style
- Knowledge of Subject
- Originality and Ingeniousness
- Ability to deal with questions concisely and effectively (only in semi-final and final rounds).
How to Register?

- The composition of the team cannot be changed once a team has registered.
- Upon successful submission of registration form, the teams will receive an email from the organizers, providing them with their team code and informing them of their successful registration.
- If teams do not receive such an email, they may immediately send an email with its registration details to sociolegalrslw@gmail.com or directly contact the members of the organizing committee.
- The registration fee is non-transferable or non-refundable. Except in case of more then 3 entries from an institution, such amount will be refunded within one week of the completion of the debate.
