1. There are ten writ petitioners, who have invoked the
jurisdiction of this Court under Article 32 of the Constitution
seeking appropriate directions to the High Court of Jharkhand for
adjudication of their criminal appeals pending consideration for a
reasonably long time.
2. Pursuant to the notice issued by this Court, learned counsel
from both sides have given us the status report in a tabulated
form, in terms whereof, we deem it appropriate to issue the
following directions:
(i) re: Petitioner No. 1 (Amit Kumar Das) and Petitioner No.6
(Basant Kumar Mahto) – Their appeals have been allowed on
16.07.2025 and 18.07.2025 respectively. Learned State counsel
informs that Amit Kumar Das has already been released. As regards
Basant Kumar Mahto, he has not been released because the judgment
has not been uploaded. Regardless thereto, we direct the State
Authorities to release Basant Kumar Mahto forthwith subject to
furnishing usual bail bonds.
