About Sanjhi Sikhiya
Sanjhi Sikhiya is a collective movement of young professionals working towards the mission to ensure that ‘All children in Punjab attain foundational capabilities in an enabling environment.’
This mission has led them to work closely with Punjab’s education department and partner with other organizations working towards the same cause.
They set out on this path of bringing in systemic reforms in 2018 by enabling dialogues across stakeholders and forming learning communities.
Their team also builds the capacity of instructional leaders, ensures data-backed decision making and does policy & practice advocacy at the state level as a part of the Punjab Education Collective (PEC) to enable effective learning and governance across Punjab.
About the Punjab Youth Leaders Program Fellowship
Punjab Youth Leaders Program (PYLP) is a two-year, full-time leadership development program for individuals with strong leadership potential.
The program aims to build a community of future leaders with the skills and understanding needed to drive meaningful change in Punjab. By the end of the program, participants will be prepared for careers in the social or development sector.
PYLP is the flagship program of the Sanjhi Sikhiya Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming Punjab into a land of hope, courage, and possibilities.
As a fellow, you will work with 10-15 government primary schools to create a shared vision for their growth. You’ll collaborate with various stakeholders, including school administration, teachers, community members, panchayat leaders, and local youth, to bring this vision to life.
Throughout the program, you’ll participate in monthly sessions designed to develop your leadership skills. These include mentoring from experts, interactive workshops, and other opportunities to support your personal and professional growth.
Competency Requirement
- Knowledge of the social/development sector, and prior experience in education will be preferred.
- Ability to set goals, think creatively to solve problems, and deliver high-quality results.
- Strong skills in managing your time and planning daily activities to meet long-term goals.
- Ability to identify, build and manage inclusive partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Good communication skills in Punjabi, English, and Hindi to engage and inspire stakeholders. Fluency in any of the two languages isa must.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office, Canva, and a willingness to adapt to and learn new technology tools.
Eligibility
- A graduate degree in any discipline,
- Must be under 30 years old (by June 2025).
- Prior experience in leadership, community work, or education is helpful but not compulsory
- Open to individuals from all backgrounds, including those who are new to this type of work, and who are interested in solving on-ground challenges in Punjab.
- An interest in improving education in Punjab, whether through leadership, teacher support, or working with communities.
- Passion for specifically in education is welcome but not essential—what matters is a commitment to creating meaningful change.
Remunerations
Each young leader will be supported with a monthly stipend of INR 20,000 (inc. ESI, EPF, Professional Tax, etc.).

Location
PYLP Young Leader will be based out of either Patiala, Ropar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bathinda, or any other district of Punjab.
