Tell us about the infrastructure of your law college
Chandigarh University offers world-class infrastructure; every classroom is fully air-conditioned with projectors and also ambient lighting. There is a separate building for every department, such as law, MBA, BA, media, and fine arts. Each building has its own library and has separate administration.
There is a huge, digitally equipped central library, which has 2 floors and a seating capacity of more than 500 students with computers and smart tabs, which offers digital library access. The library also offers a separate conference room and locker facility for every student.
Apart from the academic infrastructure, the university offers the hostel facility, which is optional for every student. There is a separate hostel for boys and girls with different rules and regulations. The hostel includes Nek Chand, Sukhna, Le Corbusier, and more, which has a good capacity to accommodate students.
All the hostels were 4-seaters with air conditioning and mess facilities. The hostels also have tuck shops available, and they also have laundry service, which has additional charges. Every hostel has gym, separate wifi, study blocks so that the student has a good environment.
The Chandigarh University promotes the students for the various sports activities and has performed the best all over India by winning the MAKA trophy. I would rate 4 out of 5 for infrastucture.
How are the academic culture and faculty in your college?
Chandigarh University has an excellent academic culture; the university and the college both promote education, but there is a problem with the quality of faculty.
There are some faculty who are exceptionally good, but there are many faculty who are just in college for nothing; they do not have proper knowledge or do not have any prior teaching experience. There is also a shortage of faculty in the college, which often increases the burden on other faculty.
There are very strict rules for the attendance, which is 75% for each subject; if you are not able to get the 75% attendance, then you will be debarred from the exams, and you have to attend the summer-term classes or winter-term classes with an additional fee as prescribed.
The class timings are a bit long, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, which includes the lunch hour from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
I would rate it 3 out of 5 in terms of academic culture and faculty.
How are the placements in your college?
Overall, Chandigarh University has a good placement track record, having the highest placement of 54 lac.A., but the problem comes with the department level since it has a good placement track record in the department of MBA or engineering, it registers very little placement in other departments such as law.
In the legal department, the conditions for placements or internships are significantly worse compared to those inthe MBA or engineering departments. At maximum, it registers the placement of 4-5 lakh in the legal department. Since I am from a legal background, I would rate it 1 out of 5 for placements and internships.
How are the hostels in your college?
The hostels in the college are good enough and are suitable for every type of student. Hostels are not the compulsory option, and that’s why students choose to live in PGs or flats near to the college, which is around 6 km from the college, where PGs and flats are available at a good price.
There were autos as a primary mode of conveyance for the college or students could bring there own vehicle, depending on the level of requirements. Chandigarh University Campus has separate hostels for boys and girls with all modern facilities and attached mess.
The hostel mess serves fresh and hygienic food. You will be provided with facilities like internet, music room, and common room with TV & cable facility, salon facilities, room for indoor games and a reading room with a collection of national/international newspapers, magazines, etc.
The hostels’ houses have a fully equipped gym and separate courts for Volleyball, BasketBall, and Badminton.
Hostel Fee (Boys/Girls) Rooms Non AC (Per annum) AC (Per annum) INR USD INR USD 5 Seater (for Boys only) Rs. 106800 /- NA Rs. 138000 /- 1746 4 Seater (for Boys and Girls) Rs. 120000 /- 1920 NA NA 3 Seater (for International Girls only) NA 2100 Rs. 151800 /- 2400 2 Seater (for Boys only) Rs. 168000 /- 2520 Rs. 198000 /- 2880 1 Seater (for Boys only) Rs. 181200 /- 2760 Rs. 210000 /- 3240.
