Present Mr. Ravi Bisht, learned counsel for the
petitioners.
2. Mr. J.S. Virk, learned Deputy Advocate
General along with Mr. Rakesh Joshi, learned Brief
Holder for the State.
3. Petitioners have approached this Court for
protection. According to them, they attained the age
of majority; that, they got married on 08.01.2025 at
Arya Samaj Vivah Uthan Kendra, Ghaziabad, Uttar
Pradesh as per Sikh Rites and Rituals against wishes
of respondent no.4 to 7, who are parents and relatives
of petitioner no.1, therefore, they are facing threat to
their life and liberty. As per documents enclosed with
the writ petition, both the petitioners are major.

Uthan Kendra, Ghaziabad is enclosed as Annexure
No.2 to the writ petition. The marriage is also
registered under Uttar Pradesh Marriage Registration
Rules, 2017 and a certificate of registration of
marriage is also enclosed as Annexure No.3 to the
writ petition.
4. Petitioners appeared before this Court along
with their counsel. This Court interacted with them.
Petitioner no.1 stated that she is working in a private
company at Gurgaon while petitioner no.2 is a
farmer; that, initially their marriage was fixed by
their parents and Roka ceremony was also done but
due to some inexplicable reasons, parents of
petitioner no.1 broke off this alliance and without her
consent fixed marriage of petitioner no.1 somewhere
else; that, as the petitioners had likings for each other,
therefore, they decided to marry each other; that, now
the petitioner no.1 is residing at the parental house of
petitioner no.2; that, the relatives of the petitioners
did not agree to this marriage and extended threats to
the petitioners, hence, this petition.
5. Learned State Counsel seeks and is granted
time to get instructions as to whether they have real
threat to their life.
6. List this matter on 04.02.2025.
7. Meanwhile, S.H.O. Police Station, Jaspur,
District Udham Singh Nagar to directed to provide
protection to the petitioners and ensure that no harm
is caused to them by respondent nos.4 to 7 or any
other person acting on their behest during this period.
S.H.O./respondent no. 3 shall summon private
respondents and counsel them not to take law into
their hands or issue any threat or coercion to the
petitioners.
