The Delhi High Court has reserved its judgement on petitions challenging the CLAT 2025 Undergraduate (UG) exam results after three continuous days of hearings. A Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela heard around 12 pending cases related to the CLAT UG exam. The CLAT PG cases will now be heard separately on April 21.
Importantly, the CLAT 2025 counselling remains on hold until the court’s verdict. If the Court rules in favour of the petitioners, it could lead to revised CLAT results, affecting candidates’ ranks and admission timelines.
Key Highlights from the Delhi HC CLAT 2025 Hearing
Court’s Position on CLAT UG 2025 Results
- Verdict Reserved: The Delhi High Court has reserved its decision on the CLAT UG 2025 petitions.
- Possibility of Revised Results: Based on discussions during the hearings, at least one question in CLAT 2025 may be scrapped, and scores may be adjusted, potentially revising final ranks.
- Delay in Admissions: The Consortium of NLUs will announce new counselling dates only after the verdict. Admissions remain paused.
Major Issues Raised Before the Court
- Errors in Answer Keys: Petitioners alleged multiple errors in the final answer key, which unfairly impacted candidate scores.
- Challenge to Out-of-Syllabus Questions: Candidates argued that legal reasoning questions tested knowledge of concepts like consideration, void and voidable contracts, which Class 12 students are not expected to know.
- Restriction on Underlining Passages: Some candidates were not allowed to underline passages in their question papers, despite a November 30 rule update permitting it.
- Grievance Redressal Mechanism: The Court directed the Consortium to strengthen its Grievance Redressal Committee to ensure better accountability.
- Category Change Request: A few candidates sought category change (e.g., from General to OBC) post-application, which the court separated for hearing later.
